Why Original Musicals

Bring to mind the memory of a handmade card you remember receiving, or a meal someone cooked specially with you in mind. This is the feeling we hope our participants experience when they take part in the musicals we write.

Over 2000 hours has been dedicated to crafting each year's musical. We have written these shows so that children aged 8-18 can be engaged, challenged and have fun while putting on a professional-quality musical theater show that is entertaining to both children and adults.

Qualities of our Original Musicals

  • Student roles that are lively, challenging, and fun

  • A show that is interesting to both children and adults, full of action, humor, and engaging human drama.

  • Dialogue and action that is age-appropriate to our student performers. This does not mean watering down the challenge or content of either the script or the songs, but taking strides to meet the young people with vibrant work that truly meets their age range and engages their interest.

  • Music and songs that fit the setting, have a cohesive feel throughout the play, vary enough in style and focus to provide something for everyone, and both children and adults want to hear or sing again

Director Torsti Rovainen has composed the songs, and either written or co-written the script for four original full-length musicals. You can read more about Our Original Musicals here, or read descriptions of our shows:

Torsti Rovainen is a creative powerhouse! I attended many of the shows he composed and directed in Chelsea, Vermont, and was blown away by the combination of talent, humor, sophistication, and whimsy that define his work.

Since we write our own shows, we can make sure kids get interesting parts that are appropriate to their ages.
